If this is the first time you've heard of VRAM, it is
very briefly an acronym for Video Random Access Memory, which means random
video memory, which is located next to the graphic processor on the same
electronic board.
If you are wondering why all gamers seek to buy
graphics cards with 8GB and 12GB video memory, the reason is that it helps the
graphic processor to produce a greater number of frames per second (FPS) and
thus speed up and enhance the performance of games and make them smoother
better, but it also helps to enhance the display performance in watching the
video...
The more video memory you have, the more you will be
able to enjoy enjoyable gaming or video-watching experience without any
stuttering or jitters.
But the question arises: what do you do if your
graphics card has a small video memory like 2GB for example, is there a way to
increase this capacity in order to speed up performance? The answer is yes, and
now we will show you how you can increase your video memory capacity very
easily, but we will also explain when you cannot take advantage of this
feature.
How to increase the capacity of VRAM?
There are two ways to do this, the first is from within
the BIOS interface, but unfortunately some motherboards are not able to provide
this feature to all users.
But there is another way, which is by modifying the
system registry or the registry, where the Windows system can modify the
capacity of the video RAM in a dynamic way.
In this method, Windows tries to borrow free space
from the primary RAM memory in order to consider it as video RAM. In order to
do this, you must first take a backup copy of the registry
Now open the Registry window by first clicking on the
Windows +R keys and then typing Regedit in the box and then pressing the Enter
key.
Now you are in the Windows registry window, head to
the following path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Intel, and now from the right
of the window, click in any empty space with the right mouse button, then
create a new key by clicking on New and then choosing Key.
You will notice that a new folder has been created on
the left of the window in the same path as Intel, name this new key as GMM,
Now go again to the window on the right, then click in
any empty space with the right mouse button and this time choose DWORD (32-bit)
Value.
Name this entry as DedicatedSegmentSize
Now click on this entry with the left mouse button
twice in a row, then from the new window choose the value of Decimal and put in
the Value data box the value of 512.
And that's it, do a restart of the computer and start trying some games that you were suffering from a shortage of RAM. If the problem persists, unfortunately, you may have no other choice but to purchase a graphics card with a larger video RAM.
