AMD has just announced its new generation RX 7000 graphics cards, which carry the company's latest RDNA 3 architectures. This, along with a new suite of gaming technologies as part of the company's "Together we advance gaming" event, was presented by CEO Dr. Lisa Su.

The company initially announced that this time it will take care of and talk about the integrated system of the new graphical generation, and this includes the hardware and software side and support from other products from the company. AMD also confirmed that its RDNA 3 generation graphics processors will appear later this year with a significant increase in performance. The company's senior vice president of engineering, Radeon Technologies Group, David Wang, said the next generation Radeon RX 7000 series GPUs will deliver more than 50% performance per watt versus the previous generation RDNA 2.

Key features of RDNA 3 GPUs highlighted by AMD will include:

• A 5nm manufacturing process node for the GPU, while the memory controller comes with a 6nm manufacturing accuracy.

• Advanced Chiplet Chip Encapsulation System.

• Re-engineering the Rearchitected Compute Unit.

• Optimized Graphics Pipeline.

• The next generation of AMD Infinity cache.

• Improved ray tracing capabilities.

• Adaptive Power Management system.

• More than 50% increase in performance per watt perf / Watt compared to the previous generation RDNA 2.

The new cards will come with an incredible increase in calculating ability, as they will come with calculating ability 61TFLOP/s. This is nearly three times the capacitive capacity of the previous generation, the 23TFLOP. The new cards also come with up to 58 billion transistors and up to 24GB of VRam graphics memory.

The company then announced two RX 7900 XTX cards that will be available with 24GB of memory, as well as an RX 7900 XT card that will come with 20GB of graphics memory. These two distinctive cards will be at the top of the performance pyramid in the new generation Ryzen 7000. In terms of design, the new chip will come with a design of 300 mm 2 GCD, and 6 x 37 mm2 MCDs, which corresponds to the Infinity Fabric technology for graphics processors.

Then the company reviewed the performance of the cards, which was really amazing. AC: Valhalla scored 96 fps with 8K resolution, and tests showed that ray tracing has improved by 60% compared to the previous generation.

Architectural Developments

Each MCD contains 16 MB of Infinity cache and a 64-bit memory path. Together, the Navi 31 chip contains 384-bit GDDR6 memory for the I/O chip. This provides a maximum bandwidth of 5.3TB/s. This finally makes for our all-new computing unit, which comes with 64 dual-pumped stream processors, AI accelerators (which will deliver a 2.7X performance increase in handling AI applications), and next-generation RT accelerators (which Provides 50% better RT performance than the previous generation).

Architectural Developments

The new units will also provide the so-called Radiance Display Engine: the GPU gets native DisplayPort 2.1 support with the following specifications: 4K @ 480Hz, and 8K @ 165Hz. And all this with just one cable. The new units will also provide Dual Media Accelerator Engines, which will allow parallel AVC/HEVC processing, 8K60AV1 processing, and AI-enhanced video processing.

Architectural Developments

The new architecture will also provide a new system in dealing with the frequencies of the shading units, through the decoupled clock domains technology, so that a different frequency of the shading units is dealt with than what is dealt with through the front end, and this will reduce energy consumption by 25%, and increase of frequency by 15%.

The RX 7900 XTX is designed to work perfectly with 4K resolution, with 24GB of graphics memory. With all the modifications mentioned above, the card proudly offers a 70% increase in performance over the previous generation RX 6950XT cards. In terms of size, the new card comes in a very small size, and does not need a dedicated computer box to carry it, as is the case with other cards! And it draws 355W of power through the familiar 8-Pin ports!

As for the RX 7900 XT card, it comes with 20GB of graphic memory. As with the larger card, it comes with a DisplayPort 2.1 port that will allow you to play at 4K @ 480 Hz without any problem.

AMD's new FSR3 technology has also been announced, which will support Fluid Motion Frames: a DLSS 3-like frame synthesis system coming in 2023. Hyper-RX unifies Boost and Anti-Lag technologies in a new feature, which can be operated with one click.

Finally, Smart-Access Video technology, increases video acceleration, by distributing workloads to both the discrete graphics processor and the integrated processor in the Ryzen 7000-series central processors.
